First of all, I’m SO FREAKING EXCITED to be among a small but dedicated group of 2018 Leading Moms: Self Care ambassadors. Many of you know that I’m a full-time teacher, who obviously CAN’T attend events during weekdays. I’m THRILLED that the Leading Moms Event has switched over to an evening time slot this year so working moms like me can participate!
We all know that moms spend so much time and energy caring making sure others are OK. But there’s a reason why we can’t pour from an empty bucket. Try as we might, we can’t care for others as we’d like to if we don’t love and care for ourselves first. For me, self-care involves a long hot bath, good book, regular exercise routine, and carefully planned nutrition. This blog has become a creative outlet for me with its photography and writing– as well as opportunities to meet other moms in our new community on the mainland!

Amy Beeman has been working in morning radio for over 14 years, first in her hometown of Prince George and now for 94.5 Virgin Radio with Jonny, Holly & Nira. Her interests include running half marathons, dancing in her kitchen, napping, blogging at According to Amy, and going on adventures with her eight-year-old twins, Lucy and Sam. Amy loves seeing the world through their eyes.
PS– I’m SO excited to listen and learn from this tribe of inspirational moms! I love how this event has solid role models who are using their education, skills, and experiences to strike that elusive balance between self care, career, and family.
